Clashes erupted between protesters and security forces in the town in the north of Bahrain on Thursday, a day after a report revealed "violations" by the police.

Witnesses said the demonstration was connected to a funeral procession in the town.

He said in a speech that his country is determined to make "reforms in their laws to protect freedom of expression and to follow international principles to ensure human rights and the prevention of torture."
The independent commission set up by the King, recommended in a report issued Wednesday, the establishment of an independent body to investigate complaints of killings and torture during the pro-democracy protests earlier this year, and called for accountability of those involved in the violations, no matter how high their position in the army or the government.
The committee's report said it found "that the security forces implicated in human rights abuses against demonstrators in Bahrain in February, and March / March, has not held accountable."
The report pointed out that the security forces had used "excessive force" and torture against persons detained during the protests, said that an independent investigation showed ill-treatment of detainees, including beatings and threats of rape and electric shocks.
On the reaction of the Government to the report, said the Bahraini monarch, "We are determined, God willing, to ensure non-recurrence of traumatic events experienced by our dear country. But we will learn from lessons, including help us and motivates us for change and positive development."
He added, according to the reported official news agency, "We do not want to never happen again .. to see our country crippled by intimidation and vandalism.
